Sexual Health - The Awareness

Sexual Health is a very big deal, what with the rise of HIV positive patients and other sexual transmitted diseases. The worst thing is when innocent children are being infected too by the deadly disease. How? Children of course get infected mostly through pregnancy when they are still babies in the womb. If their mothers are HIV positive, they are likely to get infected too. How far is this fact reaching to the people out there? I don’t think there is enough awareness, or else the figure would not increase, when it should be decreasing.

The numbers of HIV positive tests are rising, meaning more and more people are getting infected on daily basis. However, the number of people who get infected with STDs are even more. In American alone, 12 million people get infected with STDs and about 800,000 people are diagnosed as HIV positive. Where are we heading in terms of fighting HIV and STDs? Sexual Health is not something new, but then again people take it very lightly, as if it is not important at all, when it is in fact the most important education of all. However, some very old-fashioned people would think that sexual education is not appropriate to be given in school as it is a taboo subject. Even at home, they don’t give proper sex education so where are we going to learn about sex?

It is time to call for a more aggressive approach in teaching young people about sexual health, and create awareness among the parents about how important it is to teach their children about sex. It is no longer a taboo but a must-learned subject - after all, HIV has been increasing with more people getting infected with STDs. People are dying every day, as there is no cure for HIV. How long are we going to wait before our children get infected with sex-related diseases and what are we going to do then? No more waiting, we must take action now before it is too late.

Sexual Health - Family Planning

Before starting a family, it is wise to wait for the female to be over 18 and perfectly healthy to avoid any complications during pregnancy and giving birth. Younger females are not fully developed, and therefore it’s not best to bear a child with a body that is still developing. However, in this world there are so many females in the poorer nations who get married in their early teens. This results in early pregnancy and at the same time, causes even more deaths among the mothers and the newly born or unborn babies.

Family Planning is a guide towards a healthier maternal care and assistance. The term family planning means we make plans as to when we want to have children. Usually there is a combination of birth control in helping us to have children when we are ready rather than when we are not prepared. Raising a family is not an easy task, and the expenses to maintain a family is definitely important. Insufficient funds will cause the whole family to suffer, whether be it through hunger or homelessness. To avoid this situation, we need family planning. We need to lay out a plan as when we are going to earn enough money to support a family, when we are able to invest in something fruitful so to ensure our generation is protected and later, when we are ready for the new additional members to come.

An example, China has imposed a one-child policy. As China’s population has been increasing, the government has come up with a ‘fine’ for any unplanned pregnancies or couples with more than one child. Though this may work, on contrary they actually impose forced abortions as part of the punishments. This is another problem for yet another day. Still, family planning remains important for those who want a family but without having to face too much unnecessary problems such as financial problems and health problems. Family planning is easily available at clinics and hospitals worldwide.
